FRICTION INFORMATION
The use of PTFE seals can
lower friction; wear; improve motion etc, but the measurement of friction
is related to several factors such as hardware finish/ hardware material/
temperature/ lubrication etc.
As a guide only, and using
the average value of spring load for designated seal design, the following
formula may be used:
| Friction Torque (N/mm)
= 3.142µ.F.D2 |
Where F=Spring Load |
2
|
D=Diameter of Dynamic
Surface |
| Linear Friction (N) =
3.142µ.F.D |
µ = Coefficient
of friction for jacket material |
AVERAGE SPRING LOADS:
Seal Type
M01 4.6 N/mm of circumference
M20 1.4 N/ mm of circumference
